It's a seller's market in St. Louis. Communities across the region are experiencing record low inventory. For St. Louis, limited housing stock is a persistent years-long issue. St. Louis has had a decline in months-supply of inventory dating back to 2005. The following graph outlines November's inventory expressed in the number of months it would take to sell all of the homes on the market for a sampling of communities over three years. As the availability of housing declines, there has been a jump in the median sales price, up 16% from this time last year. Now more than ever, this market requires an experienced agency representing buyers and sellers.

"Where Are We" this week: Kirkwood

Established in 1853, the town of Kirkwood was developed to take advantage of the establishment of Missouri's first railroad corridor. It was designed to serve city dwellers who wished to live in the country and commute to the city via the new train system. Its creators envisioned Kirkwood as a largely residential community, and it remained so for much of its history. As a result, the vast majority of the historical resources found there are residences. The city distinguishes itself from others by being the first community in St. Louis County to have a four-year public high school, a tax-supported library and a nursing home. It also has one of the oldest police departments.
